I have been backpacking for over 20 years. I have slept in tents, in shelters, and sometimes just on the ground. I have had some good nights, and I have had a lot of really bad nights. Usually the bad nights meant that the shelter floor was too hard, or I had some roots and stones beneath my tent that I could feel all night. These bad nights made the next day a little harder. But, I had always assumed that that’s just part of backpacking.
In 2013, I was looking to buy a new tent. A friend recommended that I take a look into hammock camping. I was intrigued at first. My intrigue then became skepticism as I wondered if it was as good as everyone said. In spite of that skepticism, however, I decided to give it a try.
I haven’t looked back since.
Hammock camping has really changed the way I backpack and spend my time outdoors. This page is designed to share some of my hammock-related thoughts and some of my backpacking tips and gear reviews. Please feel free to leave comments!
